Section 8 is an independent web series and film project created by writer, producer, and multimedia artist mikO Tolliver. Blending live-action storytelling with animation, handmade props, and layered visual effects, Section 8 is a vibrant, genre-bending work that channels the spirit of vaudeville and the legacy of traditional Black theater, particularly the historic Chitlin’ Circuit.
With a distinct, handcrafted aesthetic and a sharp social lens, Section 8 weaves surreal humor with pointed cultural commentary. The series tackles themes of cultural appropriation, economic disparity, and social identity in contemporary America, while paying homage to the Black theatrical traditions that have long served as both refuge and resistance.
Through its fusion of DIY visuals, animated graphics, and performance art, Section 8 offers a fresh, unapologetic voice in independent media — honoring the past while challenging the present.
